Tuba Christmas is an annual event that started in 1974. Every year during the holidays they find a nice, resonant public space and fill it with as many tubas, euphoniums, french horns, trumpets, etc. as they can, then play some favourite carols. It's a deep and moving experience.
In 2001 the Kansas City event was held at lunch time on November 30th in the AT&T Town Pavillion. I work near enough to go over and enjoy the 589 tubas in attendance.
