The 99.7 KY Pumpkin Cannon was the highlight of this year's Oktoberfest. Built in just 10 days right before last Halloween, they've brought it back for another year.
Right-Click here and select 'save target' to download a 10M movie of the cannon firing. That shot didn't quite clear the river, but several did. They were trying to keep them under control but it was a tricky balance between hitting the trees on the far side if they aimed too straight out over the river and hitting the Paseo Bridge if they aimed too far down it.
Not all of the pumpkins survived the trip back up the barrel - the results ranged from a slew of big chunks out near the middle of the river and a rain of pumpkin puree back onto the cheering hordes.
Throughout the Oktoberfest grounds you'd hear the whistle-thump of a firi ng, look over and see a pumpkin hurtling through the sky. Heck, they even stopped traffic on the river.
