Getting started

You start by tracing the outline of the pattern on to the cloth. Because the fabric I use frays I marked out about a 3/8 border I'll hem down to keep it from fraying. If you manage to find a suitable fabric that doesn't fray, you won't need the extra.

I've also transfered over the marks for where the tie will be sewn down and for the slots. I forgot to mark the line I'll be folding the fabric up along to make the slots, but that was easy to add later.

This side - with the marks, will wind up being the back side of the case (just in case your fabric has two different sides).
