Unlike many places, in Falls Park you're free to wander around. Folks even go swimming in the Summer time. I once gave a guy a ride to the hospital from here. You see, some people jump in. Foolish people dive in. This guy dove in head first. The whole place is granite rock at varying heights, some under and some over the water. He found one about a foot below the surface.
In any case, up in the Dakotas we generally figure things like this are life lessons so there aren't any barricades to keep you on the 'approved' path.
There are some impressive chasms though. You can step across this one at some points - including where I took this picture. Right at the end you should be able to jump the gap - it's only around 4 or 5 feet.
I go around.
