2011 Butterfly Festival
Once again we made it out to the Festival of Butterflies at Powell Gardens, a local botanical garden we're members of. Every August they have a (now two week) Butterfly festival with lots of fun things to see and do.
They have a Butterfly Breezeway you start out in that features butterflies from the region. Later you go into their Conservatory where they are set up with lots of beautiful exotic butterflies they have to be very careful not to let out (since they're non-native). There are also always things going on out on the extensive grounds.
This year we got there early on a somewhat damp and rainy day. That meant the butterflies weren't as active at first, but it also meant it wasn't as crowded so we had a better view of the facility and of what specimens we found.Clicking on the thumbnails will take you to a frame by frame gallery
